Eye Correction through LASIK
LASIK eye correction uses a laser beam to reshape the cornea,
improving the vision of the patient. Many LASIK eye correction
patients achieve perfect 20/20 vision following the procedure, and
20/40 vision is considered standard after LASIK eye correction (20/40
vision is good enough to drive a car without additional correction
in most states).
LASIK eye correction has enjoyed constantly increasing popularity due
to the relative lack of discomfort involved in LASIK eye correction,
the rapid recovery made by most patients, and longevity of results attained
through LASIK eye correction. The procedure is an outpatient, ambulatory
operation, meaning that patients walk in, have their LASIK eye correction
surgery and then walk out shortly thereafter. The majority of patients
who have a LASIK eye correction procedure have almost immediate vision
improvement, and generally speaking, the day after receiving LASIK eye
correction the patient’s vision is normal or close to normal.
The doctor performing a LASIK eye correction administers topical anesthetic
eyedrops, and the surgery is painless, with the patient is conscious
throughout LASIK eye correction. Some patients request a mild oral sedative
which allows them to relax during their LASIK eye correction. Most patients
report minimal or no discomfort or pain in the days following LASIK
eye correction
